Also about the most beautiful places we know. Among the many many memories I have, this one came along: a landscape of Tajumulco Valley seeing from Tajumulco Volcano trails.

tajumulco.jpg

And so the talk came to a nice pause “what an astonishing view” -my friend said-. And just as this post began: “we were talking about the weather (and landscapes)” I now see the “lonely” (but in good company) four trees… and I wonder, as time goes by, what have they seen and what would they be talking about.

So as we talked about the weather, I bet those trees, wise as time can make them, “they were talking about life…” and how nature renews itself no matter how bad the weather might seem for us.

Where?

The place is Tajumulco Volcano located in San Marcos, at approximately 5 hours driving from Guatemala City. It is the highest summit in Central América reaching 4,220 meters above sea level. And yes, one of my fav spots around.

Thank you all for your comments!

Phil, as for info resources and guides you can contact www.fundaeco.org.gt, they are focused on studying the flora and fauna and natural reserves, also www.defensores.org.gt, they travel a lot, many experts in their field.

You can also contact the local zoo, they have an extensive documentation on local flora and fauna, they are very collaborative. There is a book (I don’t remember the title) but I had it on my hands… its a special edition about flora and fauna of Guatemala, you can surely find it at the local zoo library.

Or the local museum or natural history, all the info and contact here: www.viajeaguatemala.com/Guatemala/1061174163622.htm

    Good luck!
