I’m just a traveler with a camera taking pictures here and there. This is the place where I share my pictures of Guatemala and stories of travels around my country.
I used to take photographs, then someone asked me to take a set for a publication and somebody else said “that looks nice”. They published my pictures and then some other people started calling asking for the photographer.
I started sharing my pictures and thats how my first site was born in 1,998: Fotos de Guatemala, featuring my first collection of Royalty Free Stock Images. I was 20 years old and started with 300+ images, using a Professional Ricoh manual camera with film. Then switched to the new Mavica (using diskettes). Now I use fairly new and modern equipment, featuring over 2,300+ pictures on Fotos de Guatemala right now.
My journeys give enough talk when there is no tv…
So I have short and long stories to tell… The thing is, I like to go where most people don’t, so I started discovering new places, rediscovering angles at old places and of course every time I showed a picture, I had to repeat the so many times told story. So I started posting pictures on the web for people to see and read, here and there…
“Where some see a long way to walk, I just see a long way to discover“. Everything seems to bore me, except nature, where I always find change, peace of mind and the fingerprint of the Creator.
Enjoy the pictures, and NEVER forget, that even I’ve gone quite far to bring those images here for you to see, and that I’ve tried hard to do so, it is obvious to me: it is impossible for you to see the beauty I have seen…
So I encourage you to travel. You don’t need much, just a nice pair of shoes, a map, backpack and a tent.
Feel free to browse, write to me, comment and ask. This website is to take you out from the city, converting your computer screen into a window to places in Guatemala.
Live…
Héctor Roldán.
